OH SO MERRY.

It's time for the MERRY everybody!
I'll keep this post short and sweet because if you're like me, every minute of every day in December already feels packed with stuff to do (in a good way of course).
First let me address the obvious, Christmas is here and it's time to shop. And sketchboard studio is full of fun and unique gifts for everyone on your list. Like this fleece blanket with a giant snowman face that'll make you happy every time you snuggle up in it. The same lil' snowman is on sweatshirts, notepads, cards and of course, mugs because we all need plenty of fuel (a.k.a. caffeine) to make it through the long nights and early mornings.
And lastly in this quick blog post, let me address the less obvious.
I joke about being busy this month but honestly, the shopping, baking, parties, etc. never actually make me very 'merry' about Christmas. Eventually it all becomes just something to 'do' during Christmas. It's only when I dig a little deeper and find the 'why' behind what I'm doing is when I can feel the merry.
It's not the act of baking cookies but the knowing they're my family's favorite is when I feel the merry.
It's not the act of sending a Christmas card but it's thinking about how they will feel when they receive it & know I was thinking of them, I feel the merry.
It's not dressing up and going to the neighborhood Christmas party but it's when I remember how good it feels to share a laugh or a word of encouragement with a friend, I feel it.
The 'why' is in the giving of myself and sharing the joy that comes with knowing the greatest gift of all (hint: start with a J ends with esus). That's the real kind of merry. The merry that lasts beyond the month of December.
So how about instead of 'doing' Christmas this year, we try to, as the new buzzword goes, 'hold space' this Christmas? Being present when we give and receive presents, trim the tree and even when we're waiting in those longggggg lines at the grocery store. And once you find your merry, do the world a favor and spread it around real goooood.
Merry Christmas friends! Hope you have a good one!
